After a short break since returning from the Gympie Muster (Dave broke his arm in a “P.F.O.” (pissed, fell over) incident we decided to change the name of the band to simply “The Blue Moon Lodge”. Stay tuned for new logo and gig announcements very soon.

Whittlesea and bits…

Sorry for the late notice, but we just got the call today to perform this Sunday at the Whittlesea Country Music Festival, so I wanted to tell you about it!

The good people who put the festival together have organised ‘The Oaks Stage’, a fairly recent innovation given that we got the call to do the show about 11am this morning.

Given our five nominations in the awards, they thought we should headline this particular stage which we are – we’re on at 2.40pm (give or take ten minutes).

Would love to see you there if you’re in the area.

We’ve also confirmed Easter shows up at the magnificent Wandi Pub on April 11 and 12 (Easter Saturday and Sunday).

For those of you who haven’t made the trip to Wandiligong (near Bright), we can’t recommend it highly enough; the band performs on a great outdoor stage in a truly beautiful part of the world.

There’s lots more coming up including a new album (which we’re doing some work on this Saturday) and plenty of shows in the pipeline.

We’re also in talks with a writer/director at the minute to make a video of Brophy’s Tent – there’s been some interest from the Country Music Channel so we’re moving on that as we speak.

Take care and hope to see you at a show soon.

Cheers

Dave

G’day everyone, hope this finds you well and that you and yours have had and/or are having a great Christmas/New Year period!

All good here – we’re starting to get back into the swing of things at Blue Moon Lodge land after a fantastic 12 months – some of you may have heard that we were in the top 10 for five categories in the Victorian and National Country Music Awards – that has been pruned down to the top 5 now and we have been fortunate to pick up a nomination in the Trailblazers Heritage Award category for our song Brophy’s Tent.

This is great recognition for everyone involved with the band and we’re all really chuffed.

It’s great that we’ve been able to gain this sort of recognition with what is a relatively new project. It has been a great effort from our management team and all the boys in the band to get things happening as much as they have.

It’s not only the work that has gone in to the band by everyone but the sacrfices as well that make any sort of recognition really satisfying for us all.

We’re facing stiff competition in the category and I wish David Kirkpatrick/The Slim Dusty Family, my dear friend Marcie jones, The Sunny Cowgirls and John Williamson/Warren Williams the very best of luck.

The awards are happening on Friday, February 6.

That weekend will be big for us on a few levels; we’re getting into the studio to pre-produce songs for the next album (it’s going to be a CD a year from us for the next few years), so it’ll be a great weekend.

We’re busy on the gig front too, there’s lots happening:

This weekend (Jan 10 and 11) we’re up in North East Victoria playing at Tanswells in Beechworth on Saturday night and at the magnificent Wandi Pub (Wandiligong) on Sunday arvo (5-8)

The following week KV and I are supporting the amazing Peter Denahy at Healesville and on the Saturday night we’re doing a headline show at the Upper Yarra Arts Centre in Warburton (entry’s only $5 for that one – two sets, nice and early and I promise you’ll hear some new songs!)

Then in February we’re at the Kinross Country Muster in Albury on the 14th and 15th, a few other shows then looking forward to the Apollo Bay Music Festival from March 27-29.

It’s a big few months and only going to get bigger as we work towards the release of our next album later in the year.

On behalf of everyone, I sincerely hope 2009 is a wonderful year for you and I hope to see you at a show soon!

Cheers

Dave

Just a quick note to let you know I’m popping into Yarra Valley FM tonight from 7pm to do an interview and play a couple of songs live to air.

I’ll be playing a brand new track called ‘The Line that Connects Us’, as well a couple of songs from our album ‘Diamonds on the Road.’

If you’re not able to pick up Yarra Valley FM on the wireless, you can listen online.

Have a great day!

Cheers
